Weekly Meal Plan

I am just now getting over the flu/24 hour bug/hell-on-earth and I am getting back into my normal healthy routine! Today I did our grocery shopping + meal prepping and I wanted to share with you guys what we normally eat/buy on a weekly basis! Let me just say we are by no means the healthiest family around… I do enjoy fast food as much as the average American #GuiltyPleasure. BUT we do have a professional athlete in this house annnnd his banging hot wife 😉 So we do eat healthy-ish. It is NOTHING crazy. We simply try to choose the healthy option whenever possible!

As I stated earlier today, I went grocery shopping today. We usually plan our dinners for the week and then I build my list around that. However, I was sick yesterday, so our week is a little messed up. We typically only eat out once a night, for dinner that is. And then we usually plan 6 meals at home, but only end up eating 5 because of leftovers. A typical list looks something like this:

  • Chicken breasts
  • Turkey meat/burgers
  • Salmon
  • Steak
  • Rice (brown, quinoa, Jambalaya)
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Asparagus
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Potatoes
  • Brussel sprouts
  • Chickpea pasta
  • Lentil pasta
  • Organic sauces
  • Eggs
  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • MILK!!
  • Almond milk
  • Yogurt
  • Chicken nuggets
  • Kid snacks

That list is literally copied and pasted from my notes on my phone lol. We keep things VERY simple in this house. My mom cooked dinner all the time, but I was such a picky eater that I never ate anything the rest of my family ate. So I never learned any cooking skills from her, which maybe that is why we keep it simple. ORR maybe it’s because cooking can be as simple and healthy as you want it to be! We stick to a pretty easy rotation of meat + veggies. Sometimes throwing in a pasta every now and then. We make a variety of chicken throughout the week- baked, grilled, crock pot. And then I eat a lot of turkey burgers. Jake will eat salmon or steak on the nights I do turkey burgers, I just don’t eat that type of meat as often. We don’t really do anything that is too over the top in the kitchen. Just stick to the basics and that is all your body needs! Here is our normal dinner menu, also copied and pasted from my phone. Jake and I sometimes eat different meat, meaning when I am eating the turkey burgers he will make his own salmon or steak. He’s on his own because I can’t make that lol.

  • Monday- Turkey burgers, chopped sweet potato, asparagus
  • Tuesday- Crockpot chicken, quinoa, broccoli
  • Wednesday- steak, chopped potatoes, brussel sprouts
  • Thursday- eat out
  • Friday- grilled chicken, grilled sweet potatoes, buffalo cauliflower
  • Saturday- Chicken sausage, lentil pasta, broccoli

Breakfast is actually my favorite meal! Reminds me soo much of my momma. Sometimes we are rushed, so those are the days I will just make toast (terrible for me, I know). But many days we are making eggs, bacon (turkey or normal bacon), and toast. I enjoy smoothies that I pre freeze or juices that we just started buying! The kids eat yogurt almost every day lol. They can’t get enough of it! We aren’t really a cereal family, but I do enjoy a bowl before bed haha. We also keep frozen waffles in the house for our really busy mornings. But when we have extra time, we love protein pancakes!! And as far as lunch goes in this house, it’s a free for all. Usually left overs!

I personally think too many people get caught up in tracking their carbs or protein or things like that. I prefer to try and make the healthier choice. Eat my veggies. Drink my water. And just listen to my body! You don’t have to follow a crazy diet plan, just stick to what we know to be true! I hope to start sharing my easy recipes every now and then on the blog! Don’t be worried.. they’re pretty easy 😉
